SUPERFIX: Former DRAIN STH Duo Launch Their Attack!
December 21, 2001SUPERFIX, the Los Angeles-based band featuring former DRAIN STH drummer Martina Axen (who handles lead vocals in the new group) and bassist Anna Kjellberg, are currently shopping a four-song demo that was recently completed with the help of programmer/engineer Steve Tushar, who had toured with FEAR FACTORY back in 1996 and has done some remixes for KORN. Featuring a sound that is much closer to the industrial-tinged stylings of ROB ZOMBIE than the ALICE IN CHAINS-esque offerings of the pair's previous group (save for the DRAIN STH-like melodies in the middle section of Kill Me),SUPERFIX's current recording showcases the much grittier and more aggressive vocal approach of Axen as compared to that of DRAIN STH frontwoman Maria Sjoholm, with a thick, heavy groove running throughout the four cuts, particularly the driving Superfix and Kerosene. A much less organic-sounding affair than anything the duo had previously released, SUPERFIX's current approach relies heavily on technology and is laden with sound effects that for the most part enhance the effectiveness of the material, which is of a consistently high quality, despite the underproduced nature of this recording. Although no information is yet available regarding a release date for SUPERFIX's debut CD, band manager Tim Dralle has reportedly been in contact with several labels about a possible deal for the group, which is currently on the lookout for a guitarist and drummer for gigging purposes. The four tracks on SUPERFIX's demo are as follows:
01. Superfix
02. Kill Me
03. Kerosene
04. Mania
